Day 3

  • PRAISE God for making the impossible possible by allowing us to be 95% funded today.
  • PRAISE God for the wisdom and knowledge of Rafiki staff to pass on to us. Training class is very demanding.
  • Pray that we would be bold, be strong assured that the Lord, our God is with us each step.
  • Pray that God would go before us preparing new friends in Africa for our children. Pray for Tim and Ann Cagwin (new Rafiki Kenya ROS from Charlotte, NC) to get a boost in support raising.
  • Pray for our satellite program in Kenya to reach more children thru the Kenya Presb. churches.

REASONS TO LOVE AFRICA

This first picture is of a vehicle called a "Matatu". They are everywhere in Kenya. They cram as many people as possible inside, hanging out the windows, off the back, out the sides, (chickens and goats included) then drive as fast as possible to the next place. They can be very dangerous to ride in!

This vehicle was seen near Makerere - and its not full

Did you notice where the electiric pole is located? It was seen in Buru Buru, Nairobi - the electricity company was not paid money by the roads dept. to remove the pole, so they left it there. I wonder how they compacted the road.

This is definitely in Dar es Salaam due to negative influence of Swahili overdose

Day 1

We Arrived at San Antonio motel to find our entire class waiting for us in the lobby. Nothing like a late arrival to make a great first impression. We quickly got over it as our first gathering at headquarters was to share stories of how God led us to Rafiki. What a blessing to meet Tim and Ann Cagwin, our new neighbors who (along with children 7 and 5) will join us at Rafiki Village Kenya. Rosemary Jenson challenged us to remember who God is. Then we were given evening assignments; cook dinner for ourselves, get back to motel by 8pm and begin reading two expository commentaries.

And I jumped rope. Gotta get in condition to be a Kenyan!

Randi Bryant shares how God blesses large and small works

Melody,

Here is how the garage sale showed us an example of the loaves and fishes.

When we all got together on Friday to set up for the garage sale, we were all a little concerned about the small amount of items that we had for the sale. All of us prayed that the garage sale would be a success to bring glory to God and bless your family throught the sale. God showed up to the sale and blessed it fully. The sale opened at 6:30 and closed at 12:00. During that time several people came and shopped. They bought the larger items first and then it slowly trickled to the smaller items. We all thought that the sale would bring around $250, but He doubled that and showed us that if it is in His will, the sky is the limit.

When we were finished, we had a Jeep Cherokee full of stuff to donate to another garage sale for a similar purpose.Additionally, I got to share all of this with a friend who is struggling in her walk with Jesus. God is so good and so wonderful. Lewis and Melody, we respect and love the fact that you are so willing to go with God. You are an inspiration for us. You are such wonderful people, filled with the love of Jesus. We cannot wait to see the wonderful things that you will do for His purpose.God bless you and keep you,Randi
